Time was, grocery store displays were mild, innocuous affairs. In autumn, you could count on a lovely harvest scene. Hay bales. Apples. Pumpkins. And approaching Halloween, perhaps a few friendly, smiling jack-o-lanterns.
But apparently, all that has changed.
My local grocery store has become positively terrifying. I wonder of "Farm Fresh" refers to the apples or to the severed hand resting on them.

Oh this looks GREAT! I wish there were more displays like this one here.
They must be hoping the zombies will come by and purchase some apples!
I wish my local grocers were this whimsical.
The only thing scary about their display is the cost of produce ;)
Wonder how long before the non-Hallowe'en-lovers complain and the display gets changed? Good thing you got a photo already! I like it, myself.
Nice. Let me tell you, several years ago when I was in school and working at a grocery store with my friend's dad, a night manager, he borrowed my werewolf costume and rigged up a body wearing it in a candy display. Using nearly invisible fishing line he rigged the body to rise by attaching it to automatic doors at the front of the building. Oh the screams. The sweet, sweet screams.
LOL! You made my day!!
Cheers!
Hey...at least you got something! Pickin's are SLIM down here. I'd take gruesome gleefully...beggars can't be choosers...ha! Great find!
Awesome, I wish my local grocery store had this much pizazz
You are so lucky! The only horror I see in my local grocery is the prices.
Funny story- my father in law had a hip replacement and was in a rehab facility until Saturday. That facility, full of people recuperating from surgery and some who would never be going home again- was decorated for Halloween. Full on decorated. Grim Reapers. Full sized animatronics. It was so incredibly creepy that I could not bring myself to take photos.
